At TheEmployable we of course like to highlight and feature new Startups all the time and in terms of “new”, there are few newer than this – Uni-Verse.Biz only officially launched last month.
During his final year at university, the founder John Nice identified a gap in the market for an events platform targeted at the student market which could create and retain an online community with real-time events and innovative offers and discounts.
John joined forces with fellow entrepreneurs, Sam Verghese and Matt Hagger and in the space of just 5 months, they have with the help of angel investment and some government backed finance managed to successfully launch Uni-Verse.Biz.
Initially geared at the Brighton and Sussex student market, the site features include:
– an Event Listings guide
– Daily Discount Deals on everything from food and clubs to fashion
– a Student Jobs Board
– a Social Media led Community function which allows members to share photos, reviews and comments about the events and discounts they have found out about through the website.
Although Uni-Verse.Biz has only been in operation a matter of weeks, there have already been hundreds of students who have signed up for the site.
The intention for 2012 is to further develop the platform to incorporate other features including a “Marketplace “ function. In the long term, the founders hope to expand the model to all areas across the UK.
