Anyone who has ever spent time trawling the internet looking for accommodation for a short trip or perhaps a city break will know just how frustrating it can be. And as more of us are becoming sceptical of the accuracy of some of the reviews on certain travel sites, then this week’s Startup of The Week could help make the whole task of finding somewhere to stay much easier.
London based Flat Club is an online platform which promotes short term renting within social networks. The idea is that people can rent accommodation to people within their professional, business school and social networks – effectively renting to friends or friends of friends.
The underlying premise of this is of course “trust” and it is this trust which has helped Flat Club build up extremely quickly over the last year , expanding into over 20 cities and with over 2000 flats.
– Guests are of course benefiting from getting quality accommodation that they can trust and rely on at much more reasonable prices than typical hoteliers would charge.
– The accommodation owners are benefiting since they are able to generate income for themselves and don’t have the fear normally associated with renting out a property on a short term basis.
Although Flat Club initially was focused on the alumni from business schools, it has since opened up its’ offerings to everyone, primarily as a result of the excellent feedback, from both hosts and renters alike. Click here to check out Flat Club for yourself .
