Startup Of The Week – Blink Collective

Think of an online marketplace and most of us will perhaps immediately think about a certain online auction site….you know the one….

Well, our Startup of the Week is an online marketplace – but one with a difference. Blink Collective is an online marketplace for experiences. It is all about embracing the offbeat – this self proclaimed “emporium for the curious mind” allows people to buy and sell unique and local experiences from their community.

Experiences include everything from Barista Training through to Improvisational Comedy.
Anybody can sign up to become a “host” and share their knowledge, passion and skills through listing an experience. Experiences can be listed for free and it is up to the host to set the price. “Guests” can then book the experience and get a truly authentic and unique experience that they would not ordinarily even know about if they relied on traditional tour guides and books. All bookings are managed by the host through Blink Collective who take 10% commission for the experience.

Not only is this platform providing users with something more quirky and unusual than the norm, it is also enabling people to share their skills, passion and knowledge in a way they previously could not have and to be financially rewarded in the process.

At the core of this platform is the whole concept of the “Experience Economy” where people are happier doing things, rather than having things. And that in itself certainly strikes a chord with us at TheEmployable .Click here to find out more about Blink Collective and become part of the community who want to do rather than have….
