When TheEmployable blog set up last year we had many keen supporters. No more so than the Battlefront team that headed up the Ready4Work project, who happily spread TheEmployable word whenever they could…So its was really great to hear that Battlefront is back for 2012, and this year their fight against Youth Unemployment is back, with increasing influence and strength…
Previously on Battlefront, campaigners have achieved incredible feats across a number of different campaigns. They’ve inspired thousands of young people to fight for what they believe in and get involved in bringing about change. They’ve campaigned everywhere from the House of Commons to music festivals; from parliament to SBTV – breaking records, adding sign-ups to the organ donor register, creating 1000 work placements – and much, much more.
But this year, they have decided to focus all our campaigners’ attention on ONE issue… youth unemployment. It’s the issue everyone’s talking about and for good reason: there are over one million young people unemployed today in the UK, a quarter of them have been out of work for over a year. Young people are ready to work but jobs are few and far between.
Battlefront wants to make itself heard on this crucial issue. But Battlefront 2012 is going to do things
differently. They will have four Battlefront campaigners but instead of casting volunteers who are at school or uni, this time Battlefront will hire and pay the fab four as employees. They are advertising the positions as jobs and campaigners will be hired on a fixed-term full-time paid contract for the duration of the campaign. Help to end This Depression Now!
Campaigners will need to be 17-23-years-old, passionate, driven, inspirational and currently unemployed or currently under-employed. They’ll need to be great on the telly too!!!
On their nationwide youth employment campaign – that will live online and Channel 4 – and the four Battlefronters will be helped by campaign experts, top celebs and the entire Battlefront crew (and of course supported and promoted by TheEmployable team too)
Go to http://www.battlefront.co.uk/get-involved/battlefront-is-back for information on how to apply for the positions…
We wish Battlefront all the best and thank them for doing good things to highlight the issues that the employable youth have. Lets all support Battlefront on their mission. We will be back closer to the time to see how all is progressing…
Hail the Employable!
