Startup Of The Week – Beeminder

This weeks business startup….

Whether it’s trying to eat more healthily, actually use that gym subscription we paid for or even simply getting on with work and staying off those addictive social networks, we all have resolutions and aims that generally most of us don’t stick to.
We may set out with the best intentions in the world, but then lack of willpower, commitment and perhaps even boredom sets in and we give up. If this sounds familiar, then this week’s business startup of the Week is for you.

Beeminder is an online tracking system which will help you set goals and stick to them.

– Basically users can set any quantifiable goal – anything from the amount of weight they want to lose to the number of items on their to-do list that they want to cross off each day.
– A commitment contract is then created between Beeminder and the user whereby the user must pay Beeminder if they go off track and don’t stick to the predefined goal (although the first time is free.)
– Each user is provided with a Yellow Brick Road chart to show visual progress towards goals and see exactly what needs to be done to stay on track.
– Goals can be reset although the downside is that the pledge that must be paid to Beeminder increases – yet another incentive for a user to stay on track!

For anyone who finds their willpower to be sadly lacking or who is a tad guilty of procrastination, then Beeminder could be a perfect solution.
And lets’ face it, we probably all at one time or another, could do with a bit of a shove to get on and get things done…..
