Innovation – UK and Ireland in the ‘World Innovative Top Ten’! Forgive me for one minute, while I take a deep breath. For I am not the best person to annouce this news, surely the UK and Irish political leaders should be doing this themselves? But type in Global Innovation Index 2012 into Google today and you will find a report, released last week, that puts both the UK and Ireland in the Top 10 of innovative countries in the world!
Why are TheEmployable getting so excited? Well for starters, most economists would argue that businesss innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, is key to growing any stuttering economy. Innovation in essence equals jobs! Perhaps ‘the politicians’ are more interested in political point scoring, than a news story created by the UK and Irish people themselves. So TheEmployable, left to pick up on the story, offer you, the innovative Irish and British people, a big pat on the back!
“For the second year running, Switzerland, Sweden, and Singapore lead in overall innovation performance according to the Global Innovation Index 2012 (GII): Stronger Innovation Linkages for Global Growth, published by INSEAD, the leading international business school, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations.”
So here’s the top ten in all its’ glory – and before you joke that only 11 countries were ranked, the ranking takes into account 141 countries from across the globe. Forgive me for not understanding more than the headline figures, but politicians and business leaders included, should take a look at the whole report via the link above.
