2015 graduates have 16% more jobs to choose from
According to the latest UK Job Market Report from Adzuna.co.uk the Class of 2015 graduates have 16% more jobs to choose from in comparison to the Class of 2014 graduates.
Overall May 2015 figures saw 1,058,425 available advertised positions, 2.4% above the 1,033,435 positions recorded in April and 29.3% above the 818,471 recorded in May 2014.
With 15,825 graduate-specific advertised vacancies in May 2015, compared with 13,610 available a year ago this equals a 16.3% rise year on year.
Here at TheEmployable we had recently reported the good news that figures released by the government suggest that there are more graduates in work now, than at any time since 2007. This means that for the average graduate, the prospects of employment are now at an 8 year high!
However, this report via Adzuna.co.uk – a search engine for job ads from all different jobsites, goes onto highlight that it is still five times harder for new grads to find a job than those already employed, with four graduates competing for every entry-level role compared to UK average ratio of 0.77.
With this in mind it might be wise to also read our recent feature on 5 tips for post university Job Searching or take a read of our e-book How to Search and Apply for Jobs.
