Top New Job Boards – TheEmployable countdown

A relatively small pretender, but with a global message, Hireland, an Irish Jobs scheme, whilst not changing the way we recruit online, is however having an impact on how companies create  jobs in Ireland. It is more of a commitment to help the Irish recession, one job at a time. But with links now in the UK and the US, this ideology could grow. Started around a kitchen table on a wet night last February between neighbours whose friends had lost their jobs, and were facing emigration, we love this initiative that could grow global given the right support.

With TheEmployable just about to launch Startacus, our platform for the Self Starter, what better motivation do we need, than to see the potential for launching a new platform, than SkillPages. Within 12 months of launching, this new job board had managed to build more than 3 million members! Whats the hook? Well this platform means that a jobseeker can highlight the skills that they have and would like to share, which means they can be found by people who need your skills, and vice versa, they can search for people with specific skills….A one stop shop for skills, so to speak!

A simple premise perhaps, but this is a site that looks and feels good, and having recently raised a mammoth 9.5 million dollars in funding and passed 5 million members, this platform seems to be going Global…And they are based in Ireland, so it is good to celebrate success close to home!

Targeting the dissatisfied City Worker, this niche UK jobs site has recently raised £600,000 by crowdfunding the company and 24% of its shares. With a tagline ‘Do something Different’ the EscapetheCity team have been helpful in spreading TheEmployable love, and perhaps their personable nature is responsible, to a certain degree, to their growth. Recently they have opened a US office, taken on extra staff, and are in the process of redesigning their website.

The team have built up a database of over 70,000 professionals wanted to escape their corporate jobs to find a job that matters, and with the Occupy movement continuing to grow in strength across the globe, perhaps more corporate types will see the advantage of finding an ethical job or a job that makes all the difference.

A wee note also to Jobsbody.co.uk a site that had contacted us recently. We love people doing their own thing to better their career prospects and Jobsbody (good name bearing in mind their main feature is video CVs) came about because 2 unemployed Graduates decided that if there were no jobs to apply for, for they would create their own jobs, and in turn create a jobsite to help others. We wish them all the best on the start of their journey and perhaps one day, they will have equally as good a reach as the job boards above!
