It’d be fair to say that these days most of us are pretty familiar with online review sites – whether we’re checking out a restaurant or deciding what movie to watch!
Whilst these reviews can’t be relied on entirely, they do still go some way to helping us form an opinion when a little research is required.
Since research is an absolute must when we are job-seeking or prepping for an interview, it’s surely only a good thing that there are now online review sites dedicated to employers.
We’ve highlighted a few employer review sites that we reckon are well worth a look.
With over 8 million company reviews, this site is the biggest of them all. It features everything from reviews on interview questions though to reports on salaries and other benefits. Current and former employees can upload their reviews and rate their companies. Although initially established in the US, the site now has a global reach and there are specialised and localised versions available for many countries. The site is also accessible via a mobile app for both iOS and Android.
This site is aimed primarily at graduates. All reviews featured are written anonymously by graduate employees about graduate employers. The site is a great resource when researching some of the more practical elements of working as a graduate. Users will find out info on everything from the realities of a typical day in a given company through to salary and benefits. The site is also very useful when comparing companies against each other.
Although this meta search engine is perhaps better known for being an excellent resource when actually searching for a job, it also features extensive employer reviews. Employees (both past and present) can upload their own reviews and assess their companies on everything from job work/life balance through to job security and advancement opportunities.
The newest addition to our list, this startup is aimed directly at female employees. The site has a community feel to it and effectively uses the wisdom of the crowd to build up its database of useful info. Reviews cover everything from salaries and hours worked through to maternity leave policies. With its fundamental goal being to “improve the workplace for all women by creating transparency about company policies and culture”, this is a site which is well worth supporting.
If you’re currently jobseeking or are simply potentially considering a move, we hope that these employer review sites we have featured will help you in the days and weeks ahead…
