Top New Job Boards – TheEmployable countdown

We all have our favourite job boards that we use to search for jobs online. But the online jobs market is a saturated place, and many of the big sites often flatter to deceive. With this in mind we wanted to take a look at some of the new pretenders that are currently hitting the online jobs market, and trying to reinvent the online jobs market, or become a major market player. So without further ado, here is TheEmployable countdown to some of the top new Job Boards that are out there…

Bright.com

With a tagline of “Take the search out of the job search” this new job board, launched just last week, has spent the last 18 months taking a scientific approach to the resume to job description relationship. The study included over 2.8 million resumes, 8.6 million job seekers, hundreds of recruiters and HR professionals, and a team of 15 data scientists and engineers. The data from this research endeavor was used to build the Bright Score, a machine-learning algorithm, that promises that it can examine thousands of data points to find the best fit between job seekers and job openings. Sounds good, but we will have to wait and see, as this platform is for the American market at present. The only doubt is whether a machine can shortlist better than a trained job recruiter…..Probably – I hear some of you shout! 🙂

Twitter.com, Pinterest and BeKnown…

Whilst we appreciate that there is nothing new about Twitter and the newish Pinterest and BeKnown, and with Twitter limited to 140 characters and Pinterest limited to mostly images, one may question how those social platforms can capitalise on the jobs board market. However, the reality is that the Twitter and Pinterest audience reach is massive. It is therefore only a matter of time before both are fully capitalised to advertise jobs. #Hashtag a job and a location, and there is a good chance you will be able to find recruiters advertising on both right now. Competing against the global LinkedIn and to a smaller degree Facebook; this may be where the challenge comes from.

BeKnown is the Monster.com’s professional network to help find better jobs. Seems a little similar to Linkedin perhaps, but time will tell, if having an actual social network on board in Monster will mean that connections lead to more real job opportunities.
